We live in the age where patients are very particular about how to restore their front teeth. They are not only looking for an aesthetic solution to their dental problems, but they are also looking for treatments that will have a limited impact on healthy dental tissues.
To treat caries or any trauma that causes minor or major damage to the teeth, we now have at our disposal modern biocompatible materials, such as composite resins.
With simple or complex fillings (“white fillings”), and following modern welding techniques, we restore the strength, functionality and aesthetics of the teeth.
In cases of more extensive loss of dental substance in the back teeth, we prefer the construction of laboratory inlays – inlays, made of modern resistant all-ceramic or polymer materials. In these cases two sessions are required. In the first session, the sensitive part of the tooth is covered with a composite resin filling and the impression is taken, while in the next session, the inlay, which has been manufactured by the associate dental technologist, is bonded.
These conservative restorations are an innovative solution when “a lot of tooth has been lost” because they allow us to restore the structure of the tooth with the least possible removal of healthy substance compared to the construction of a crown (case), while ensuring the appropriate strength and functionality that he needs. They also find an important application in some cases of restoration of endodontically treated teeth (denervated teeth).
When it comes to front teeth, resin veneers and porcelain veneers are our main options in improving the smile, without having to “sacrifice” a large amount of dental substance. After a detailed discussion with each patient, the case is thoroughly studied to achieve the optimal aesthetic result.
We thus have the possibility to correct the shape, position, color of the teeth, as well as achieve closure of gaps.
Composite resin veneers can be performed in one visit to our office, depending on the number of teeth to be restored, while porcelain veneers are manufactured by an experienced partner dental technologist, and placed in the patient’s mouth in two or three appointments depending on the case and his needs. To improve the natural color of teeth, modern whitening materials and protocols help us achieve this without removing tooth substance, with safe and conservative procedures.
